(A WORK IN PROGRESS)

ABBA Voyage opened in London on 26 May 2022 at the purpose-built ABBA Arena in East London.

A show like no other (they're not holograms, they're not avatars, it's not a video!), ABBA performed the ABBA Voyage concert in the flesh to a closed set over five weeks in early 2020.

They were filmed by 160 cameras, in motion-capture suits.  They performed the whole set list and they performed them for the cameras just as if they were performing in a live concert.  There were monitors and cameras everywhere and 100 people capturing all the data from George Lucas' Industrial Light and Magic company and watched by producers Svana Gisla and Ludvig Andersson. ILM transferred the data into CGI (computer-generated images) of ABBA as they were in 1977 (NOT 1979 as Björn consistently, and erroneously repeats in interviews!).

Benny and Björn had to shave off their beards for the process, something neither of them were keen to do, but they did it.

It all makes sense now. On 2 March 2020, Benny appeared at the Josefin Nilsson Tribute Concert at The Rival Hotel and he had a little goatee beard which was obviously most unusual for him.  Now it's clear that he might have been still in the process of filming the ABBA Voyage concert, or only just finished and was growing a new kind of beard while he had the chance!

The result - ABBA Voyage - is simply incredible.

Given that there are two 'looks' for this time (1. ABBA in their 2020 form (will make a separate mo-cap entry for this) and 2. ABBA in their 2020 form but "ILM'd" to look 1977), this entry is going to be complicated for me and is a very long work in progress.

*I Still Have Faith In You was first seen on 2 September 2021 during the ABBA Voyage launch and promotion.  Since that broadcast, it would appear Frida's look was improved as her nose in the first broadcast changed (improved) for the actual show.

** the introduction to this segment was shown during a little celebratory segment acknowledging ABBA's 50th Anniversary of their win at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2024 together with the medley of Waterloo TV clips.
