The programme was broadcast live on YouTube.
Actress Salma Hayak introduced the ABBA segment at 1:19:14 - she said she used to listen to ABBA as a child and then introduced Cher singing her Spanish version of Chiquitita. Afterwards Björn spoke on screen from his home over footage of ABBA's original appearance at Music for UNICEF - A Gift of Song Concert.
Björn's speech:
"The UN has eight millenium goals and out of those, I think the single most important one is to promote gender equality and empower women ...
... because if we achieve that, eradicating poverty, ending senseless wars, etc will follow. Countless women today are not allowed to play their part in developing their countries because of culture and religion and other things. We need to educate young women and girls so that they can become independent, stand up for themselves against, in many cases, patriarchal tyranny.
I had goosebumps when I heard that you, Cher, who are one of the most powerful symbols of a strong independent woman, that you not only have recorded our song Chiquitita in Spanish but also will give royalties to UNICEF the way we in ABBA have been doing for the past 40 years. The story of Chiquitita goes on and it has become the story about the young women and girls who have been helped to a better life by UNICEF in Central America."
