Björn appeared at the Cirkus theatre in Stockholm together with Tilde Björfors (Professor of Contemporary Circus and Founder of Cirkus Cirkör and was its artistic director from 1995 to 2023), Maria Blom (Swedish Film Director), Magdalena Åberg (Scenographer and costume designer) to announce that Pop House Productions and Astrid Lindgren AB would be celebrating Pippi Longstocking's 75th anniversary by putting on a “crackling, musical circus performance” in collaboration with Cirkus Cirkör and Lindgren AB and Krall Entertainmen in summer 2020.

“To be able to do circus at Cirkus is a dream come true. Finally, the ring will be filled with circus tricks! To be able to do circus with Pippi, the constant defender of play and imagination and the master of making the impossible possible, feels like a perfect way to celebrate Cirkör's 25 years and Pippi's 75 years! Pippi inspires us to dare to turn our different perspectives upside down and be braver”, said Tilde Björfors, director and artistic director of Cirkus Cirkör.

Björn would be Executive Producer and would be responsible for the performance's lyrics to previously published instrumental music by Benny Andersson and others. The music will be performed live by a flying circus orchestra.

Maria Blom, director and playwright, who is responsible for the performance's personal direction. Together with Björn, Maria Blom and Tilde Björfors have written the show's script, which is based on Astrid Lindgren's story about when Pippi, Tommy and Annika went to the circus and met the circus princess Miss Carmencita, the tightrope walker Elvira and the world's. strongest man Starke Adolf. 

It was announced that Pippi på Cirkus would première on Friday 26 June 2020 and would be performed throughout the summer - with tickets going on sale on Monday 25 November 2019.

However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, these plans were changed. The project was postponed and eventually premiered in the summer of 2022 instead.
