The day after tickets sales were announced for Mamma Mia! The Party at the O2 in London, a very short film was broadcast by their social media networks showing a telephone conversation between British-Danish comedienne Sandi Toksvig and Björn where Sandi is checking what The Party entails and its location.
Sandi Toksvig joined the creative team to adapt the story that diners would experience at The Party for a British audience.
Björn was standing outside the main entrance to the O2 in front of a distinctivly-decorated building, while Sandi was on the roof the O2.
Mamma Mia! The Party opens on 29 August 2019 but you will need to sell your entire ABBA collection to be able to afford it.
In early February 2019, a second video appeared on social media with Sandi and Björn taking a trip on a Mercury Clipper boat on the River Thames to the O2 which was obviously filmed the same day as the first one judging by their clothes. Sandi was quoting ABBA song lyrics to Björn throughout their journey while he struggled to keep a straight face and deliver his own lines!
Sandi: Hi Björn, yeah, it's Sandi
Björn: You're on your way?
Sandi: Yeah, yeah, I just want to check a couple of things ... so it's a restaurant for 500 people where everybody gets to sit in the middle of a show with ABBA music?
Björn: Not just any restaurant - a meditteranean Greek restaurant
Sandi: Yeah, I know, like the movie? And everyone gets to dance to ABBA music at the end?
Sandi: And it's in London?
Björn: I sent you the address!
Sandi: Yeah, I must have gone wrong somewhere!
Sandi: I don't wanna talk about things we 've gone through. Though it's hurting me, now it's history. I've played all my cards and that's what you've done too. Nothing more to say, no more ace to play ....
Björn: Are you going to quote ABBA songs all the way to The O2?
Sandi: Yeah! I'm so excited - because the night is young and the music's high!
Sandi: Oh come on! We're going to Mamma Mia! The Party and you know what they say, with a bit of rock music, everything is fine
Björn: You know, I didn't think the British talked on public transport!
Sandi: I'm sorry!
Björn: We're getting off here
Sandi: Really? Are you sure? You don't want to get off at Waterloo?
Sandi: (to fellow passenger) That's Björn! He's bringing Mamma Mia The Party to The O2! Björn! Thank You For the Music! This is so exciting. (To passenger) Oh you look nice - Take a Chance on Me?!
