Benny and Björn met in Linköping (not Lidköping which is over 150 miles away) on 5 June 1966.  The Hep Stars and The Hootenanny Singers were both on tour at the time.  After celebrating at the then Rally Hotel, the artists continued to play the guitar together on a bench in the Slottsparken opposite the hotel. The following morning, Björn had to start his National Service.

To commemorate this, in 2016, a "Björn and Benny bench" with back-to-back Bs engraved on the top of it was put in place outside the Best Western Plus Hotel (formerly he Rally Hotel), but this was the first time Björn had been to see it and sat on it to test it out for the press. The bench was designed by Niclas Malmström and Camilla Akraka and has built-in speakers so it can play tunes.

He told Aftonbladet, "What I realized when I came here is the physical fact that it actually was in this park we sat and played together for the first time over 51 years ago .... You know, it has been so many years so I have a picture of it, but if that picture is true or not, I dare not say that."

A report showing Björn trying out the bench and talking to the press was featured on the local newspaper site Corren.se.
