The Guldbagge Awards is an official and annual Swedish film awards ceremony honoring achievements in the Swedish film industry. Winners are awarded a statuette depicting a rose chafer (a type of beetle), better known by the name Guldbaggen. The awards, first presented in 1964 at the Grand Hôtel in Stockholm, are overseen by the Swedish Film Institute. It is described as the Swedish equivalent of the Academy Awards. The awards ceremony was first televised in 1981 on SVT2, and has since then been broadcast, almost every year, on SVT1, SVT2 or TV4.

Benny had been nominated for 'Best Music' for his score for the film Cirkeln (The Circle) and so he attended the ceremony with his younger son Ludvig. The film was also nominated for Best Make-up and Best Visual Effects - although Benny obviously had no part in those.  The ceremony was hosted by Petra Mede.

Benny did not win the Guldbagge - that went to Lisa Holmqvist for the film Flocken. However, the camera was on Benny when the winner was announced. It seems that the director and most others expected him to win.

In the VIDEO section, there are two clips from Guldbaggen 2016:

1. a clip of Peter Grönlund's acceptance speech (for Best Manuscript) looks out into the audience and at 1:18 you can see Benny sitting in the audience in an aisle seat, six rows from the front, with Ludvig sitting next to him.
2. a clip of host Petra Mede getting friendly with Best Actress winner, Malin Levanon. Benny can be seen behind Petra in the aisle seat.

These were the only clips I could find showing Benny!
