Additional information

This programme covered the 1970s nominees for the UK Music Hall of Fame as part of series also including the 90s, 80s and 60s.

Björn, Benny and Carl Magnus Palm were interviewed as part of a 10-minute segment about ABBA along with artistes paying tribute to the group:

  1. Pete Waterman
  2. Andy McCluskey (OMD)
  3. Noel Gallagher (Oasis)
  4. Andy Bell (Erasure)
  5. Andrea Corr (The Corrs)

ABBA were one of 10 groups/artistes representing the 1970s - only one of which would gain entry into the UK Hall of Fame. The other groups/artistes were:

  1. The Clash
  2. Elton John
  3. Pink Floyd
  4. The Sex Pistols
  5. Stevie Wonder
  6. Queen
  7. Led Zeppelin
  8. David Bowie
  9. The Bee Gees.

The public were then asked to vote via telephone or text over the course of the following week. All the winners or their representatives received their inauguration into the UK Music Hall of Fame at a ceremony at The Hackney Empire, which was shown on Channel 4 on 14 November 2004.

ABBA did not win the 1970's vote - that award went to Queen.
