Additional information

During Mamma Mia! Premiere, Benny gave a short interview to Bettina Tietjen.

This programme also featured scenes from the press meeting with Björn and the cast from the same occasion as Stern Reportage.

Benny Andersson: Do I need a mirror?
Bettina Tietjen: No, you’re looking perfect. We’re so proud to have you here, because you’re given so few interviews. It is said, that you are too shy, is that true?
Benny: No
BT: So why do you give no interviews?
Benny:: Because I don’t like them, so I try to avoid them. I have given interviews for ten years with ABBA, doing photo sessions, trying dresses – so I said to my friend Björn: “I’ll give you my support, but I won’t do this", which I’m doing right now!
BT: How does it feel, your music and the story of the musical?
Benny:: It will be very interesting – all the songs always have been in English, but the idea behind that musical was from the beginning to link the music and lyrics with the story – all the songs had to be translated in German – well it’s SEHR SPANNEND! (german word for very exciting)
BT: Do you know more words in german than SEHR SPANNEND ?
Benny: JA JA (Yes! yes!)
BT: Benny, you’re so famous – how does that feel?
Benny: I *was* famous.
BT: No, you still are.
Benny: I don’t know – it’s a part of life - my life. And I don’t know how it is not to be famous. It has been like this since I was 18, but I don’t mind, it’s a good life.
BT: How have you managed to stay like you are?
Benny: Because I’m Swedish – it’s almost like being German.
BT: Thanks a lot.

Thanks to Carl Magnus Palm, Matthias Butenschön, Mandy Johanson and Slavek Kwasniewski.
