Långt bort och längesen = Far away and a long time ago

An amazing Swedish documentary about the making of Kristina Från Duvemåla which shows footage of:

1. Benny and Björn writing and arranging the music and lyrics
2. auditions featuring Anders Ekborg, Åse Bergh and Helen Sjöholm (see how Helen absolutely wipes the floor with everyone else, she totally stands out - gives me shivers!)
3. press conference
4. first meeting of the main characters with each other in Mono Music (including Peter Jöback)
5. interviews
6. preparations and rehearsals and scenes from the stage production.

Points to note:

1. You see Anders Eljas' painstaking work turning Benny's music into written music note by note.
2. Both Benny's dogs Max and Isolde feature briefly. (It is Isolde's bark you can hear on The Ainbusk Singers' Lassie).
3. It aslso includes a report about modern-day emigrants to Sweden from Laos and old footage of Wilhelm Moberg, author of the book on which Kristina Från Duvemåla is based: Utvandrarna (The Emigrants).

För åtta år sedan bröt några familjer upp från sin hembygd i Laos för att söka sig en ny tillvaro i hjärtat av Mobergs utvandarbygd. I Malmö spelas Benny Anderssons och Björn Ulvaeus kritikerrosade musikal Kristina från Duvemåla.
