Additional information

This is Your Life was a British biographical television documentary, based on the 1952 American show of the same name. It was hosted by Eamonn Andrews from 1955 until 1964 on BBC One, before switching to ITV in 1969 after a five year hiatus.  Michael Aspel became host in 1987 after the death of Eamonn Andrews.

Series 33, Episode 22.

In 1980 the school choir of St Winifred’s Roman Catholic Primary School in Stockport released a song which became that year’s Christmas number one single – There’s No-one Quite Like Grandma.

This is Your Life host Michael Aspel travelled north to surprise the school’s headmistress, Sister Aquinas, whose 30-year career at the school was acknowledged on the programme by a letter from the Pope.

Also included was a brief pre-recorded message from Björn to Sister Aquinas who was in charge of one of the children's choirs who sang with ABBA in the UK as part of their 1979 tour.

Björn: "We sent you a telegram - you and the boys and the girls of the choir - to tell you how much we had enjoyed that night at Bingley Hall, Staffordshire. You’re so fortunate to have such talented children. Have a wonderful night and best wishes from a very cold and windy Stockholm."

Thanks to Paul Russell and Jozsef.
