Additional information

Frida interviewed on MTV by Alan Hunter and introduced by Martha Quinn.

After the interview the I Know There’s Something Going On PROMO was shown.

The interview was repeated partly (probably some days later), when Frida appeared at the start on a TV screen in the background and the PROMO clip was shown again.

Transcript of the repeat (it is only the end of the original broadcast)

Alan Hunter: Something’s Going On is the new album by the lady. It was produced by Phil Collins of Genesis. You can definitely hear Phil’s drums in those songs. Well, Frida here told me how she and Phil first met

Frida: I didn’t know about him before - and my daughter had a cassette with different songs on and one of the songs was In The Air Tonight and I thought it was a tremendously good song so I went out to buy his album Face Value and I listened to it over and and over over again and I really loved it and I felt that we had something in common musically. So when I decided to record my own album I knew that I wanted him as a producer so I called him up and asked him and he accepted to do that.

AH: What was that phone call like? ………. Hi Phil!

Frida: (laughing) He is very gentle, you know, and he’s very easy-going so there was no problem. I think it was a kind of challenge for him as well for he had never produced a female singer before, it was the first time for him.

AH: I just think he must have been very surprised to get a phone call from …

Frida: (interrupting) “I really don’t know what he thought about it But I am very happy that he accepted to do this because he is so good, you know, and we had a very nice working relationship.”
