I have received the following request to identify a German TV music show from 1977 but I need help because I don't know anything about it: 

"It was a Gala of the Nations but this is not the programme title, but presumably something similar.
The programme featured ABBA, Tom Jones and Italian singer Donatella Rettore who fell down the stairs (this bit could not be edited out since the programme was LIVE)."

Donatella herself has confirmed the event and said she performed her first hit called Lailolà. The programme was a LIVE broadcast from Hannover in 1977. The exact broadcast date is unknown, but probably after 13 March, because ABBA were in Australia until then.

The 'stairs' incident is confirmed here: "Though not succesful, producer Roberto Danè suggested that she translated and sing a Spanish ballad - Lailolà- for the North European market. This lead to an appearance on German TV: during her performance she stumbled and fell to the floor. Nevertheless she kept singing while jauntily getting back on her feet. In the morning, Donatella's coolly-tackled incident was reported by all the German dailies pushing sales towards 300,000 copies in Germany.”

Does anyone know anything more about this programme - its title or when it was filmed?  The arcticle mentioned all the German daily newspapers, so if somebody can find one of them, we’ll know more…
