Additional information

Omkring et flygel = Around a Piano

Omkring et flygel is not only the name of this TV show, but it is the Danish title of the original instrumental single released in 1961 by 'Bent Fabric and his piano' which was a hit in Denmark and which was later re-released worldwide as The Alleycat which was a US No.1 single.

The TV show, Omkring et flygel, was a weekly Danish TV show, hosted by Bent Fabricius-Bjerre (Bent Fabric's full name). It was broadcast on DR from 1960 to 1982 and the greatest moment of the series was when Agnetha and Frida sang the title-song.

The other guest of this episode were:

  1. Dorthe Kollo (Danish singer)
  2. Arne Lamberth (Swedish trumpeter) and
  3. Ivo Caprino (Norwegian circkus performer).

ABBA performed SOS and So Long and at the end of the programme hummed Alley Cat. It seems that every guest on this show hummed the tune at the end of the programme in honour of host Bent.

Note: Bent Fabricius-Bjerre was/is known as Bent Fabric outside of Denmark. When he was #1 in the US with Alley Cat, it was under the name Bent Fabric. He only uses his real name in Denmark and probably Scandinavia.

Lyrics available on the Official ABBA site: SOS and So Long
