Agnetha and Frida appeared in this show in their own right as individual performers.
This was Agnetha's very first TV appearance and the first time Agnetha and Frida had met each other. Frida said in an interview in 1996 that Agnetha was only 17 when they first met so timing-wise this would fit with Frida's recollection of Agnetha's age.
Agnetha performed Jag var så kär (... or did she? See interview below).
Frida most likely performed En ledig dag. That single was already 'old' by that time and her most recent single, Din / Du är så underbart rar, had just been released (in December 1967), so either side of that single would have been a more logical choice. All artists performed to playback.
The above picture is of part the show's line-up and is not from the broadcast. In case you can't make them out, Agnetha is on the far right with Frida next to her. Other guests on the show were: Svante Thuresson, vocal group Rospiggarna, Siw Malmkvist (second from the left in above picture), Ewa Roos, Carl Erik Thörn - plus Agnetha Fältskog and Anni-Frid Lyngstad.
The following is from an interview with Kåge Gimtell, the producer of Studio 8, broadcast at P4 Malmöhus, October 21, 2011:
"In Studio 8 we made a TV-show that turned out to be a formidable success for the Malmö television. It was simply called Studio 8. The TV-show had a German model called Studio B. It was a show about recently released records with popular artists. I contacted Folke Erbo who worked in the archive in Stockholm and had a lot of knowledge. He worked in the radio as a presenter of new songs now and then. He should help me to select songs and artist. Then we should have a presenter in the studio and that was Arne Strömgren from the Malmö stadsteater. He didn't know much about this branch but I still though he could interview the artists a bit and then they we're going to sing their songs.
"We made several episodes of this show and it turned out really well. We had a debutante that I remember particularity well. She came from Jönköping and it was Little Gerhard who had called me and said ”you've got to listen to this girl, she's amazing!”. Her name was Agnetha Fältskog and this was her absolutely debut in Swedish television. I remember that when she had sung her self-penned song, “Om tårar vore guld”, well... I think it was, she walked up to me shaking of excitement ”My God, how fun this was! Couldn't I take part again?”.
I let her take part in another show that was filmed her in Malmö (Five Minutes Saloon), but then she disappeared out on other things and now I don't think I can get her back to the Swedish television to sing even if I would beg her on my bare knees.
“Eventually we had to discontinue the show because these presentations of new songs effected the entire Swedish top chart. The chart became the songs that we had been playing in Studio 8. The Swedish radio protested wildly ”There you are in Malmö ruling the Swedish top chart, it cannot be like this”. Eventually Stockholm took over the TV-show and called it Chanstoppen and then it apparently was fine. We felt a bit offended by this robbery when they took over a good idea for a TV-show.”
Click here for a newspaper cutting: Frida is referred to as the young lady and mother of two who won Barnens Dag talent show and was on TV in the Hylands Horna special H-trafik rapport: Ikväll and that part of the prize was a record deal.
