Agnetha and Benny surprised us all by appearing together on a brief but wonderful message together at the Gala Opening of ABBAWORLD in Melbourne, Australia. The message is played on a constant loop at the entrance to the exhibition to welcome visitors.
Benny had a protective arm around Agnetha who looked happy and relaxed, if a little nervous in front of the camera. This is the first time Benny and Agnetha alone have appeared together since Saturday Superstore from November 1982.
Agnetha: Hello Australia! Hello Melbourne!
Benny: Hello Federation Square and welcome to Stockholm!
(Agnetha giggles!)
Benny: We're sorry we can't be with you tonight, or if it is today
(referring to the time difference), but we have good memories from
Australia, especially from Melbourne actually because when we came to
Melbourne in 1977, the whole city was full of people and we thought they
were there to cheer ABBA but we found out that it was Moomba Festival but we
still had a wonderful, wonderful time.
Agnetha: er, Björn and Frida are not with us today but they send their love
as well to you
Benny: So ...
Agnetha: Here ...
Benny: We shall, we shall hereby declare ...
Agnetha: Hereby we declare ABBAWORLD open!
