Björn spoke to Noel Edmonds by telephone promoting the album "Super Trouper" and after their chat the PROMO for Happy New Year was shown.
Björn Ulvaeus: Merry Christmas to you!
NE: We’re obviously very disappointed that we haven't got the opportunity to once again welcome you to Swap-Shop. Could you tell me just a little bit about a Scandinavian Christmas. What do you do over there?
BU: Well, we really celebrate Christmas Eve, because the evening of Christmas Eve, Santa Claus comes to the children and gives them all the presents. And after that we have a big dinner, and that’s about it!
NE: And what do you do with the immediate family? How do you celebrate?
BU: I would celebrate it exactly like that, together with children and my parents and relatives.
NE: Has the band been working very much in Sweden?
BU: No, not lately. We completed the new album just about one and a half months ago. And since then we haven’t been doing very much.
NE: It’s a stunning success with the LP. …..
BU: No, I didn't have an idea but we feel ourselves it’s the best alum we’ve done so far. And certainly the biggest seller so far! About five and a half million of something word-wide right now.
NE: What does 1981 hold for ABBA?
BU: Of course, we’ll go on writing and recording, we’ll also make a new TV Special in the beginning of the year. And in the end of January, Benny and I go to London and New York to get some inspiration. To listen to new things and to see some musicals, like that.
NE: When do we have an opportunity once again to see ABBA concerts in the UK?
BU: We don’t know. Every two years we generally get the urge to tour again and if you ask me the same question in a year, I might give you the answer!
NE: On behalf of all your fans over here in Great Britain, have a very very happy Christmas. I hope you pass on ABBA’s which is to the rest of the group.
BU: I will.
