| Notes | An visitor to ABBA on TV has a video clip of Slade singing "Merry Xmas Everybody" on a December episode of Swap Shop in 1975. Towards the end of the song, the studio camera pans around all that day's guests sitting near where Slade are singing. ABBA are sitting on the couch on the far right (left of the screen, right of the sofa!) clapping along to Slade. The only confusing thing for me is that Swap Shop started in 1976 - at least it did according to the BBC site (look at the Internet Explorer banner at the top of the screen). However, look at this! December 4 Update: Steve recalls, "If memory serves me right,
this 75 Swap Shop clip is in fact a shot of Christmas hits taken from the
1974 Top of The Pops special, where all the guests sat around drinking -
clapping along as they each took turns singing their own hits....and this
(the TOTP clip) is
still in the Archives." |
